Non-adherence to medication regimens is considered to be one of the most serious problems that physicians face in effectively treating patients.[i] Enhancing drug delivery is regarded as a very effective means of improving compliance, provided that safety and efficacy are retained. In addition to convenience for the patient, reducing the dose frequency by employing a controlled release medication may result in better health outcomes, which in turn will be a potential for cost savings.
Utilizing our long tradition of expertise in the development of oral controlled release delivery systems, our technologies can be tailored to the desired release profile for a given drug. The release profile is dependent on many parameters such as drug solubility, protein-binding, and site of absorption.
