St. Louis University, ranked among the top research institutions in the nation, was founded in 1818, is the oldest university west of the Mississippi and the second oldest Jesuit University in the United States. Additional universities include the University of Missouri- St. Louis, with the 10th best international business program according to U.S. News & World Report, Lindenwood University, Maryville University, named the 22nd best university in the Midwest division of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Universities-Master’s” category, and Webster University, named 25th on the same list.
