A sports lover’s paradise, St. Louis is home to the 2006 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals and was named America’s “Best Sports City” in 2000 and the “Best Baseball City” in 2005 by Sporting News magazine. Home to the St. Louis Rams NFL team, and the St. Louis Blues NHL team as well, St. Louis provides unlimited sporting excitement. The beautiful, new Busch Stadium began its inaugural season in 2006, the Edward D. Jones dome, holding over 67,000 spectators, provides football fans some of the wildest and most exciting action around and the Scottrade Center, a 20,000-seat arena, is home to the all those who “bleed Blue”. Not to mention the St. Louis University Billikens, St. Louis Aces WTT Tennis, Gateway International Raceway, River Otters Ice Hockey, River City Rascals Baseball, and the St. Louis Steamers Soccer.
A city on the move, downtown St. Louis has been undergoing a miraculous transformation with new condominiums, bistros and shops, a new $365 million baseball stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals, and a $700 million Ballpark Village underway which will showcase residential lofts and condos, office towers, bars, restaurants and shopping to be completed by 2008. The resurgence is visible beyond downtown as well. One of the nation’s largest urban parks, Forest Park underwent a massive $94 million restoration completed in 2004.
